I am an avid movie watcher. I love movies. I enjoy everything from comedy, to horror, to suspense, to drama, to even a chick flick every now and then. Of all of these I enjoy suspense movies the most. Suspense movies require thought throughout the film. They force a person to think about the possible out comes and they make for good conversation at the end.

I would have to say that “I am Legend” is one of my favorite movies. Will Smith is the only person left after New York is devastated by a vaccine that was supposed to cure cancer. Instead of curing cancer, it turned the people into zombie like beings that could stayed in the dark. Will Smith’s job throughout the movie was to find a way to cure these zombie type people. In the end, Will Smith finds the cure but the zombies have taken over his home. He locks himself in a glass box and sends the vile, with a family he found, to upstate New York. Will Smith dies at the hands of the zombies.

This movie has an incredible religious undertone. Jesus came to where the people were completely consumed in their sin. We were living in the “dark”. And Will Smith stayed behind and eventually died for those zombies just as Jesus did for us. This movie is AMAZING and I highly recommend it!

Being a freshmen in college, people ask me all the time what I want to do with my life. I have no idea what I want to do with my life. However what I want to DO with my life, and what I WANT are completely different questions.

Life is something meant to be fun. To be lived out. I want a a family. I want a successful career. I want to serve people. All of these things lead to one thing. To be happy. Happiness is the only thing I want from life. If that means having a family, that’s what I want. If that means having a successful career, that’s what I want. If that means serving people, that’s what I want.  If that means having a tight budget, that’s what I want. If that means that I am homeless, that’s what I want.

To me happiness is the key to living. I am not talking about being excessively happy even during times of trials. I am talking about a happiness that exists in me. In my soul. A happniess that only the King of Kings can provide. This happiness is something that cannot be touched. It is a comfort that can be felt. It is security, even when there seems to be none. It is service, even where there are no resources to do so.

The only thing I want from life is to serve the Lord with everything I can, in good times and bad times.

Our heredity, or nature, has a set number of factors that determine mainly physical aspects of the bodies we live in. In the same manner, nurture has a set amount of way it can influence someone. Despite this similarity, nurture is something that has the capability to change, and because of that, it has a greater impact on who we are and who we will become.

When I was in Romania, there was a boy who had been orphaned at a very early age. The workers in the orphanage necglected this little boy for the first six years of his life, and as a result, when he was six years old he did not know how to walk, talk, or even feed himself. It is clear that this is not a genetic disorder, more of a problem of the nurture that was given to this poor boy.

Genetics does have an effect on the development of a child. It may set a limit on how much knowledge one can gain; but in general, genetics only the physical aspects of ones development. Nature is the major influence in the development of a person physically. It determines the looks we have, the physical height, the health we may encounter, and other physical aspects of life.

However, the physical aspect of life is not what defines our abilities. Our abilities and potential are determined by the mental and behavioral development a person goes through. And because of this, the upbringing and life situations determine who we are and what we believe.

My favorite kind of music would most definitely be rock. I love listening to oldies rock and roll, to new rock, to any kind of rock there is. I love sitting back on any given day and listening to the likes of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Queen, Rolling Stones, and Bob Marley just to name a few.

I remember riding with my dad on our way to pick up mattresses for his company and during those rides he would put in some of these legendary bands. We would enjoy our time together listening to the music and having a good time. This probably had the biggest impact on why my favorite kinda of music is rock.

Through some research, I have found that rock and roll suprisingly finds its roots in blues, country, and rhythm and blues. I never would have guessed that the steady upbeat music like rock and roll came from the more relaxed blues and country.
